you wake up in darkness. The ground beneath you is rough and cold like the feel of ancient stone. The darkness is more like a blackness devoid of life. The only sound to be heard is your own voice as it gasps in surprise. One moment you were lying in your bedroom about to fall asleep, then you were here; uncomfortable and strangely lonely.
after a minute or two of taking in your surroundings, you decide it is high time to find a way out of this blackness. For hours you walk, though it may have only been minutes (dark places do this often, and one tends to lose track of time very easily) All of a sudden you hear a shrill scream. The scream becomes louder as though it were coming closer. The sound brings with it the feeling of intense horror, as though the person who was screaming was having his or her skin slowly peeled by a carrot peeler and their bones slowly ground up in a meat grinder. The thought of this sends a shiver down your spine.
You turn to run, but as soon as you turn around you see a small light in the distance, faded but there all the same. You run to it, thinking that if you reach the light you will surely wake from this terrible nightmare that has ensnared you in it's terrible grasp.
for hours you run out of terror. But no matter how far or fast you run, the light never draws nearer. The screaming becomes more closer and clearer. You start to take in details about who is screaming. A woman, young and scared. Although you feel like you should save the damsel you are more terrified of whatever is making her scream at the top of her lungs. After a few more minutes the screaming becomes hoarse and dies away altogether.
You slow down. Deep down your heart tells you this is a bad idea. But your brain says otherwise. You hear silence, then the slow sound of drip drop drip close by. This makes you even more scared than before you turn to run again but slip and fall. You land on a wet surface. You realize that the ground is wet here and not where you first ended up which is strange. Then you look up. You expect to see something but you see nothing but the pale light in the distance glowing against the bitter darkness surrounding it. Off in the distance you hear a growl. Half way between human and demonic. Your fear is once more renewed. You are not afraid of the growling, but of the fact that you cannot see what IS growling. But then again, you think to yourself, you would rather not see whatever it is.
You gather yourself up and continue towards the light. Now the light becomes clearer and you see that the light comes from an arched doorway. Your mind suddenly feels at ease and you find yourself feeling like you are at home....strange....and then you see what you never thought actually existed...angels....and the big man himself....
